Robert Kilroy-Silk
Originally a Member of Parliament for the Labour Party for the constituency of Ormskirk in Lancashire from 1974 to 1983, he became the Shadow Home Affairs spokesman but resigned his position in 1985.

Kilroy TV Show
Robert Kilroy-Silk became a household name in 1986 when he presented a television show, originally called Day to Day and then later simply titled Kilroy for the BBC. It was shown on daytime BBC and ran Monday - Friday, its premise was that a topic for the day would be discussed with a studio audience from topics ranging from teenage pregnancy to keeping dogs on a lead.
His tenure on the show was cut short in January 2004 when he wrote an article for the British Newspaper the Sunday Express entitled "'We owe Arabs nothing", due to the controversy surrounding this the BBC terminated him as a presenter on the show, although it carried on for a short while with Kilory's TV production company behind it.
A return to Politics
Following his removal from the show Kilroy headed back into the arena he knew well, politics and in 2004 stood as a candidate to become a Member of the European Parliament for the UK Independence Party (UKIP)he came second place which meant he was second seat for his region.
After an unsuccessful leadership challenge, Kilroy-Silk left UKIP and setup his own political party called Veritas but after just seven months he was ousted from the position of leader and now stands as an Independent MEP.
